Expert Security Consultant (Freelance)

Job description

For a long-term project (end date: 15/07/2027) at our client Eigen Vermogen Digitaal Vlaanderen (Flemish Government), we are urgently looking for an experienced Security Consultant.

The assignment covers the following areas:
- Information security
- Risk management
- Data protection
- Information classification

The Flemish Government approved the Information Security Strategy at the end of 2021 to substantially strengthen the digital resilience of the Flemish government. The joint information security strategy includes sharply tightening security technology, strengthening the security culture and well-developed crisis management. Each entity of the Flemish government determines the security of its own environment and applications, within the limits of its independence and competences.

Digitaal Vlaanderen's Information Security Team implements the Flemish strategy on information security for the entire Flemish administration and advises on new policy.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as Security Consultant within one of the following environments: data, infrastructure, applications, ...
  • Demonstrable expertise in specific knowledge domain of information security (e.g. implementing information security management processes, performing vulnerability analyses and pen tests, optimising application security through cost-effective means, implementing Priviliged Access Management, implementing encryption solutions)
  • Proven experience in analysing, optimising and documenting security processes and governance
  • Proven experience of security management techniques and or frameworks (e.g.: ISO27000 series, COBIT for Security, NIST, OWASP, CIS Critical Security Controls for Effective Cyber Defense)
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience via certificates depending on domain of expertise (e.g. CISM, CISSP, CEH).
  • Language requirement: Dutch-speaking at European CEFR - level C2.
